Be grateful for what you have because you never know when you will lose it...
I live in a gated community of about 1600 houses. We are approximately 4.3 miles in diameter and are surrounded by a wall. We do not have a golf course (thank you) but we have a concrete walking path that threads through the whole community for walking or using a golf cart to get around. We have a gas station, restaurant, store, Post Office, large pool, lap pool and a nice gym. All of which I have never used, except the post office.
I am not sure if it is the wall caging in the animals but so many of the animals in this community are unafraid of humans. Like the bird in the previous post, it is not uncommon to get within a couple of feet of the numerous rabbits, frogs and other birds that frequent the property and waterways. I recently came across a armadillo digging a hole in a bush, I stopped and took a video of him. It wasn't until he noticed me that he wander off. There are also those creatures that you don’t want to come across, like the snakes & alligators.
View from driveway of our home
This is the view from the right side of our house at the garage and driveway. On the other side of the house we have a heated pool that I was not excited about until I got used to swimming again. I hadn’t been swimming or in the water since 2007 when I almost drowned in Tahiti while snorkeling in the open water and the current got ahold of me and started dragging me away. I was maybe 6 months shy of having to go on 02 (oxygen) and just didn’t have the lung capacity or strength to swim back to the boat. Fortunately, one of the boat attendants saw I was in trouble and rushed to my aid. I now love having a pool, another set of lungs and another kidney 😉 I’ve spent a very unusual amount of time in the hospital and I am very grateful for still being alive and having a wonderful wife and two terrific Rottweilers.
I’m rambling today, gratefulness does that to you!
